Community Standards
Effective date: 30 July 2026 · Last updated: 30 July 2026
Why these rules exist
Amperly is built on a specific premise: that real conversation between adults is worth protecting. These Community Standards exist to protect that conversation — not to police every word, but to ensure that every member can participate without fear of harassment, manipulation, or harm.
These Standards apply to all content shared on Amperly — room messages, direct messages, stories, profile information, and usernames. They also apply to behaviour towards other members, including conduct that begins on Amperly and continues off the platform.
These Community Standards form part of our Terms of Service. Violating them may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
The baseline
Every member of Amperly agrees to one basic principle when they join:
Amperly is not a place for performance or an audience. It is a space for conversation. Use it that way.
Prohibited content
The following content is prohibited on Amperly and will be removed immediately. In most cases, the account responsible will be permanently banned.
Illegal content
- Any content that is illegal under Australian law
- Content that facilitates, encourages, or glorifies illegal activity
- Links to or sharing of pirated materials, illegal substances, or restricted weapons
Child safety (zero tolerance)
Violence and threats
- Explicit threats of violence against any person, group, or organisation
- Content that glorifies, encourages, or facilitates acts of violence or terrorism
- Graphic depictions of violence or gore
Hate speech and discrimination
- Content that dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
- Slurs used to attack or demean any person or group
- Content that promotes or glorifies discrimination
Non-consensual intimate content
- Sharing or threatening to share intimate images of any person without their consent
- Any content designed to shame, coerce, or extort using intimate imagery
Self-harm promotion
- Content that glorifies, instructs, or encourages self-harm or suicide
- Content that provides methods or means of self-harm
If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact Lifeline Australia on 13 11 14 (available 24/7).
Harassment
Harassment on Amperly includes but is not limited to:
- Repeated unwanted contact after a member has made clear they do not wish to continue the conversation
- Targeted abuse designed to make another member feel unsafe
- Coordinated pile-on behaviour against a specific member
- Sharing personal information about another member without their consent (doxing)
- Sending unsolicited explicit messages or images
- Using multiple accounts or workarounds to contact a member who has blocked you
Persistent low-level harassment — repeated messages that individually seem minor but collectively constitute a pattern of unwanted contact — is also prohibited.
Impersonation
You must not create an account or profile that:
- Impersonates a real, named person (whether a public figure or private individual)
- Impersonates another Amperly member
- Uses the name, photo, or identity markers of another person without their consent
- Falsely suggests affiliation with Amperly, Purple Peppercorn Pty Ltd, or any organisation
Parody and satire accounts are permitted only if the account clearly identifies itself as a parody or satire account. Ambiguous profiles that could reasonably be mistaken for the real person are not permitted.
Spam and commercial solicitation
Amperly is a conversation platform, not a marketplace or advertising channel. The following are prohibited:
- Sending bulk unsolicited messages to multiple members
- Promoting commercial products or services in room conversations without disclosure and without being directly relevant to the room topic
- Operating accounts primarily for the purpose of driving traffic to external commercial websites
- Multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, or similar solicitation
- Recruiting members to other platforms or services without their prior consent
- Posting identical or near-identical messages across multiple rooms
Genuine sharing of products or services you actually use, in a relevant room, in a conversational and disclosed way, is acceptable.
Protecting minors
Amperly is a strictly 18+ platform. Any account determined to belong to a person under 18 will be immediately suspended and permanently deleted, with no data retained.
Adults on Amperly must not:
- Attempt to identify or contact minors through the platform
- Share content designed to appeal to, sexualise, or exploit minors
- Use the platform to facilitate any offline contact with a minor
- Engage in grooming behaviour of any kind
If you believe a minor has created an account, report it immediately to safety@amperly.com.au or use the in-app report function. We investigate all such reports within 24 hours.
Online Safety Act 2021 and the eSafety Commissioner
Our specific commitments under these frameworks:
- Age verification at registration — date of birth is collected and verified before account access is granted. Accounts showing DOB under 18 are rejected at the point of registration
- 24-hour removal — any account reported or identified as belonging to a person under 18 is suspended and deleted within 24 hours
- Mandatory ACCCE referral — any child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) detected on the platform is immediately reported to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP), as required by the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth)
- eSafety Commissioner cooperation — we will fully cooperate with any investigation or notice issued by the eSafety Commissioner, including removal notices under the Online Safety Act 2021
- Basic Online Safety Expectations — we operate in accordance with the Basic Online Safety Expectations (BOSE) determined under the Online Safety Act 2021, including proactive steps to minimise the risk of harm to users
If you wish to make a complaint to the eSafety Commissioner about content on Amperly, you may do so at esafety.gov.au.
Behaviour towards real people online
Conversations on Amperly involve real people. While this is a social platform, members retain full human dignity at all times. Content that degrades, humiliates, or objectifies a specific real person — whether an Amperly member or not — is not permitted.
Screenshots of private conversations shared without consent are not permitted, even if the content of those conversations is not itself harmful. Private conversations are private.
Platform limits and what they mean
Amperly enforces the following limits to ensure a quality experience for all members. These are features of how the platform works, not punishments. If you hit a limit, you have not violated these Community Standards.
| Feature | Free | Founding Member / Plus |
|---|---|---|
| New DM conversations per day | 10 | Unlimited |
| Stories per day | 1 | 3 |
| Profile photos | 3 | 6 |
| Room messages | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Profile Boost per week | Paid ($4.99 each) | 1–2 free per week |

Reporting content or accounts
Every profile, message, and room has an in-app report function. When you report something:
- Your report is kept strictly confidential — the reported member is not told who reported them
- Our safety team reviews all reports within 24 hours
- For serious safety concerns (threats of violence, child safety), we aim to respond within 2 hours
- You will receive a notification when action has been taken on your report
You can also contact our safety team directly at safety@amperly.com.au.
Enforcement
When we identify a violation of these Community Standards, we will take one or more of the following actions depending on the severity and context:
- Content removal: the offending message, story, or profile element is deleted
- Warning: the member receives a written warning explaining the violation
- Temporary suspension: account access is suspended for a defined period (typically 24 hours to 30 days)
- Permanent ban: the account is permanently closed and the member is prohibited from creating new accounts
- Referral to authorities: in cases involving illegal content, threats of violence, or child exploitation, we will report to the Australian Federal Police or other relevant authorities
Serious violations — including child exploitation material, threats of violence, and non-consensual intimate images — will always result in immediate permanent ban and referral to authorities. There is no warning stage for these categories.
Appeals
If your account has been suspended or banned and you believe the decision was made in error, you may appeal by contacting safety@amperly.com.au within 30 days of the action.
In your appeal, please include:
- Your account name and email address
- The date the action was taken
- A clear explanation of why you believe the decision was made in error
- Any relevant context or evidence
We will review your appeal and respond within 7 business days. Our decision on appeal is final.
Appeals are not available for accounts banned for child exploitation content, credible threats of violence, or non-consensual intimate image sharing. These bans are permanent and non-reviewable.
